Thane Hospital Performs Robotic Gall Bladder Telesurgery

Tieten Medicity Hospital in Thane has successfully performed one of the city’s first robotic telesurgeries for gall bladder removal, marking an important development in India’s medical technology sector. The procedure, called robotic cholecystectomy, was done using the indigenously developed Mizzo Endo 4000 robotic surgical system. According to the report, the surgery was conducted through a secure 5G-enabled network with ultra-low latency of less than 10 milliseconds, allowing smooth remote robotic control during the operation.

Dombivli Patient Treated For Gall Stones

The patient, a resident of Dombivli, was suffering from acute cholecystitis, symptomatic gall stones and severe abdominal pain. The remote procedure was performed by Dr Pradeep Tripathi, along with senior consultant Dr Umang Shandilya and a multidisciplinary robotic surgery team. The hospital’s bedside surgical and operation theatre teams also coordinated during the procedure to maintain patient safety and support uninterrupted surgical care.

Made-In-India Mizzo Endo 4000 Gains Attention

The Mizzo Endo 4000 is a Made-in-India robotic surgical platform equipped with AI-enabled capabilities and advanced 5G technology. It is designed for multiple specialties, including GI surgery, urology, gynaecology, thoracic surgery and oncology. The platform offers high-definition 3D visualisation, precise instrument movement, ergonomic controls, tremor filtration and tele-surgical capability, helping doctors perform minimally invasive procedures with better control and accuracy.

5G Healthcare Opens New Surgical Possibilities

Doctors said the successful telesurgery shows how robotic technology and high-speed connectivity can reshape surgical care in India. The use of 5G healthcare technology may help patients access specialist surgeons even when the doctor is not physically present in the same hospital. Wider adoption will depend on infrastructure, safety systems, training and regulatory support, but the Thane procedure highlights the growing role of Indian innovation in advanced healthcare.
