Hospital officials said she died at 7:30 p.m. after suffering multiple cardiac arrests, ending a remarkable musical career that spanned more than six decades.

Apollo BGS Hospitals said Janaki was admitted at 12:49 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, in critical condition and was immediately shifted to the Intensive Care Unit. Doctors provided intensive treatment, continuous monitoring and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but she suffered multiple cardiac arrests and could not be revived.
