A new nationwide dining report has placed Chicago firmly in the spotlight, with OpenTable announcing that 16 restaurants from the city have earned a place on its anticipated Top 100 Restaurants for 2025 list. The annual list, released on Tuesday, reflects strong feedback from diners across the country and highlights restaurants that consistently deliver exceptional experiences. OpenTable stated that the selections were shaped by “diner demand,” relying on more than 10 million verified reviews to determine which establishments resonated most with guests throughout the year.
According to OpenTable, the evaluation process incorporated several key indicators, including overall diner ratings, reservation interest, and the percentage of five-star reviews. This data-driven approach is intended to identify restaurants that demonstrate high-quality service, creative culinary execution, and sustained popularity among patrons. The list is not a ranked lineup. Instead, it is arranged alphabetically by state and restaurant name, offering a broad look at standout dining destinations across the United States.
Illinois was represented entirely by Chicago, with 16 restaurants selected across a variety of neighborhoods and culinary styles. The diversity of the Chicago entries underscores the city’s reputation as a dynamic and continually evolving food destination. Among the recognized establishments are ramen shops, modern Italian eateries, French-inspired dining rooms, seafood institutions, and neighborhood favorites serving pizza, burgers, and globally inspired plates. The range of cuisines reflects how Chicago’s restaurant landscape balances innovation, tradition, and accessibility.
The Chicago restaurants featured in the Top 100 list include Akahosi Ramen and Daises in Logan Square, Alla Vita in the West Loop, and Elina’s and Pizz’amici in West Town. Additional honorees include Gibsons Italia and Noriko in the Fulton River District, Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab in River North, and Mon Ami Gabi and North Pond in Lincoln Park. Other highlighted locations are Le Colonial on the Near North Side, RL Restaurant in Streeterville, Pizzeria Portofino along the riverfront, Rose Mary in Fulton Market, Topo Gigio in Old Town, and Valhalla in Wicker Park.
The announcement comes at a time when Chicago continues to earn national recognition for its culinary achievements. The city’s restaurant scene recently gained new honors in the 2025 Michelin Guide, with Feld receiving one Michelin star and Kasama securing a second star. These distinctions, combined with OpenTable’s latest selections, reinforce Chicago’s position as one of the country’s premier dining cities, drawing both local and visiting food enthusiasts seeking memorable meals.
As Chicago looks ahead to 2025, the strong presence of its restaurants in major national lists suggests continued momentum for the city’s culinary community. The growing number of celebrated eateries reflects a blend of creative chefs, supportive diners, and the city’s ongoing commitment to diverse and quality-driven dining experiences.
