Brookfield zoo offers free admission on most days in january and february
Brookfield Zoo is offering Chicago-area residents and visitors an excellent opportunity to explore one of the region’s most popular attractions without paying an admission fee, as the zoo has announced free entry on most days throughout January and February. The expanded winter free admission schedule gives families, students, and animal enthusiasts a chance to enjoy a meaningful outdoor experience during the colder months while keeping expenses low. With a wide variety of exhibits and thousands of animals, the initiative is expected to draw visitors looking for affordable and engaging winter activities.

The zoo is home to more than 3,400 animals, allowing guests to see a diverse range of species including polar bears, wolves, giraffes, and many others. Winter visits can be especially rewarding, as several animals tend to be more active in cooler temperatures. The extended free days make it easier for visitors to explore the zoo at their own pace, whether they are planning a short visit or a longer day trip with family and friends.

Visitors still have a limited chance to enjoy free admission before the end of the year, with two remaining free days scheduled for Monday, December 22, and Tuesday, December 23. These dates provide a convenient option for those seeking budget-friendly outings ahead of the holiday season. For anyone unable to attend during December, the zoo has confirmed that many more free admission opportunities will be available in the new year.

The winter free admission period resumes on January 5 and runs through February 28, giving visitors nearly two months to plan a visit without paying the standard entry fee. There are only two exceptions during this period when paid admission will be required. These include Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, and President’s Day on Monday, February 16. On all other days within this timeframe, general admission will be free for guests.

For those planning to visit on days when admission is required, standard ticket prices will apply. Admission is priced at $20.95 for children aged 3 to 11, $29.95 for visitors aged 12 to 64, and $24.95 for adults aged 65 and above. These rates highlight the value of planning visits on free days, especially for families and larger groups.

Brookfield Zoo is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering ample time for guests to explore exhibits, participate in educational experiences, and enjoy the winter setting. The zoo remains closed only on Thanksgiving and Christmas, ensuring consistent access throughout most of the year. The expanded free admission schedule reflects an effort to make wildlife education and outdoor recreation more accessible to the community.

By extending its winter free days, Brookfield Zoo continues to provide an inviting and inclusive destination for residents and visitors alike. Whether planning a casual outing, an educational trip, or a family day outdoors, the free admission program offers a valuable opportunity to enjoy wildlife and learning experiences without the added cost of entry fees.
