Tollywood box office welcomed two new releases this weekend - Dhamaka and 18 Pages. Neither of these films garnered a unanimously positive word of mouth and they are having to scurry through at the box office.
Despite the weak reviews and lukewarm word of mouth, Ravi Teja's Dhamaka has done fairly well at the box office.
The film has collected Rs 4.66 crores in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on its opening day, making it one of the best ever openers for Ravi Teja. It is next only to Krack which collected more than Rs 6 crore.
Dhamaka is being benefited from the mass belts across Andhra Pradesh. The film might carry some momentum over the weekend thanks to support from the masses.
18 Pages is going nowhere at the box office. The weak pre-release hype and the lukewarm reviews have resulted in the film ending up as a non starter at the box office. The openings are poor for the Nikhil and Anupama Parameswaran starrer.
In a bold move that could redefine digital marketing in Tollywood, veteran producer Dil Raju has publicly condemned the long-standing trend of buying YouTube views to inflate trailer and teaser numbers.
