The trailer showcases the journey of the orphaned cub Mufasa as he rises to become king. The cast includes Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Taka, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Donald Glover as Simba, Mads Mikkelsen as Kiros, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, John Kani as Rafiki, Tiffany Boone as Sarabi, and Blue Ivy Carter as Kiara.
According to the official synopsis, Mufasa: The Lion King explores the legendary rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands. Rafiki narrates Mufasa's story to young lion cub Kiara, the daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa adding their comedic touch. The film, told through flashbacks, follows Mufasa from his beginnings as a lost and lonely cub to his meeting with Taka, a lion of royal blood.
