In the realm of storytelling, settings can significantly enhance the emotional depth and authenticity of a narrative. In Mega Prince Varun Tej’s upcoming film Matka, directed by Karuna Kumar, the Poorna Market emerges as a pivotal element that enriches the story, showcasing the vibrant culture of its surroundings.
To authentically represent Poorna Market, the production team constructed an impressive set at RFC, spanning 10 acres, under the expert supervision of production designer Kiran Kumar Manne. Originally known as Sardar Vallabhai Patel Market, its name was altered during British rule, reflecting a rich historical backdrop.
The Poorna Market serves as a bustling hub of activity, featuring 1,500 shops that contribute to the film's vibrant atmosphere. From antique cars and traditional rickshaws to a vintage photo studio and the iconic Poorna Theatre, every detail is meticulously crafted to transport audiences to a bygone era.
The narrative arc of Varun Tej's character, who transitions from a laborer to a figure of immense power, is intricately linked to the Poorna Market. This connection adds layers of meaning to the setting, making it an integral character in its own right.
The promotional video further heightens curiosity and anticipation for the film, hinting at the emotional and transformative journey that awaits viewers.
Matka is slated for release on November 14th, promising a captivating experience that blends rich cultural elements with a compelling narrative.
