Indian Films Including Kanguva Make It to the 2025 Oscars Eligibility List

After facing disappointment at the Golden Globes, Indian films are still in the race for the 2025 Academy Awards. The 97th Academy Awards jury recently revealed the list of 323 feature films eligible for this year’s Oscars, and among them is the Tamil film Kanguva. Despite its box-office failure, Kanguva met the eligibility criteria for the Best Picture category.

Apart from Kanguva, other notable Indian films that made the list include the Hindi versions of Aadujeevitham (GOAT Life), Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, and Santosh. The Malayalam film All We Imagine as Light also earned a spot on the prestigious list.

With the voting for nominations set to begin tomorrow and closing on January 12, the Academy will announce the final nominations on January 17, 2025. The inclusion of these films has rekindled hope for Indian cinema at the Oscars.
