Telugu streaming platform aha has emerged as a major winner at the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards 2025, showcasing its growing influence in promoting powerful local storytelling. The awards, recently revived by the Government of Telangana in memory of revolutionary poet and cultural icon Gaddar, honor exceptional contributions to Telugu cinema. With over 1,200 entries reviewed by a 15-member jury led by actress Jayasudha, this year’s awards marked a significant milestone for aha and regional cinema.
Among the standout wins for aha was Pottel, awarded Second Best Film, a deeply emotional tale set in rural Telangana. The film traces Gangadhar's struggle to secure education for his daughter while protecting a sacred sheep, symbolizing hope and resistance. 35 Chinna Katha Kadhu took home Best Children’s Film, touching hearts with its portrayal of a young mother helping her academically challenged son overcome personal and societal hurdles.
Nivetha Thomas won Best Actress for her raw and poignant role in 35 Chinna Katha Kadhu, while Saranya Pradeep secured Best Supporting Actress for her work in Ambajipeta Marriage Band, a rural romance rooted in tradition and transformation. Music director Bheems Ceciroleo was recognized for his impactful score in Razakar, a film steeped in Hyderabad’s liberation history.
Young talents Arundev Pothula and Harika won Best Child Artists for their roles in 35 Chinna Katha Kadhu and Mercy Killing respectively, with lyricist Chandra Bose praised for his work in Raju Yadav. Nalla Sreenu earned Best Makeup Artist for his period-accurate work in Razakar, adding historical realism to the film.
Special Jury Awards were also given to Ananya Nagalla for Pottel and the duo Prashanth Reddy and Rajesh Kallepally for Raju Yadav, recognizing their creative storytelling.
