Nimrit Ahluwalia Missed Diljit Film for TV Show

Television star Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia recently opened up about missing out on a major opportunity to star in a film opposite Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh due to her commitments with the hit show Choti Sarrdaarni. Although the missed project was a setback at the time, it paved the way for her eventual debut in Punjabi cinema with Shaunki Sardar, released on May 16, 2025.

Speaking in a candid interview, Nimrit shared that she was approached for a role in a Diljit Dosanjh-starrer during the pandemic, but scheduling conflicts made it impossible. “I was supposed to be in Canada for 40 days, but I could only spare 15 because of my television commitments. The producer was keen on casting me, but it didn’t work out,” she recalled.

Despite not doing the Diljit film, Nimrit’s talent left an impression. The same producer, Pawan Gill, later recommended her to the makers of Shaunki Sardar. This introduction led to an audition that eventually landed her the role, acting alongside Guru Randhawa and Babbu Maan. Her performance has received praise from fans and critics, with Babbu Maan himself acknowledging her work.

Nimrit also reflected on the industry challenges actors face when transitioning from television to films. She mentioned the struggle of breaking through preconceived notions about TV actors, especially during auditions. “Some people judge you by your TV background, while others see your talent. I was fortunate that the director saw my merit and not just my resume,” she said.

The actor, who also participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, is now focused on building her film career and is excited by the appreciation coming her way. She admits, however, that she hasn’t fully paused to enjoy the moment. “I’m always thinking about what’s next, but I know it’s important to relish the journey,” she added.

Nimrit also shared how thrilled her family was about her working with legends like Babbu Maan and how proud they are of her recent success. Her debut in Shaunki Sardar is not just a new chapter but also a testament to how missed chances can sometimes lead to bigger opportunities.
