Kantara 2 Boat Accident: Crew Safe Amid Shoot Mishap
The highly anticipated Kannada film Kantara: Chapter 1, directed by Rishab Shetty, faced yet another on-set scare when a boat capsized near the Mani reservoir during a night shoot on Saturday. The incident sparked widespread speculation, especially considering the series of unfortunate events linked to the production over recent months.
However, Hombale Films, the production house behind the project, swiftly issued a clarification, confirming that none of the film’s cast or crew were on board when the mishap occurred. Executive Producer Adarsh explained that the incident was caused by heavy winds and rain, and the boat overturned at a distance from the actual shooting site. He assured that the shoot continued as planned and that all team members, including lead actor Rakshit Shetty, were safe and uninvolved in the accident.
Earlier this year, the Kantara 2 team has faced multiple setbacks that many fans are calling bad luck. A 55-year-old mimicry artist working on the project tragically died of a heart attack at a homestay in Agumbe. In a separate incident, Kannada actor-comedian Rakesh Poojary passed away during a wedding due to cardiac arrest. More recently, a junior artist named MF Kapil drowned in the Souparnika river while off-set. These events have left the fanbase concerned and emotional as anticipation builds around the film’s October 2, 2025 release.
Despite the challenges, the production of Kantara: Chapter 1 moves forward with high hopes. With stunning visuals, mythological depth, and a gripping storyline expected, audiences are eagerly waiting to see what Rishab Shetty brings next in this cinematic universe. The boat mishap may have stirred brief concern, but with no injuries and shooting continuing unhindered, the project remains on track.
