Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap is back to his gritty roots with his new crime drama Nishaanchi, which is scheduled for theatrical release on September 19, 2025. The film, set against the dark underbelly of power and emotion, marks the acting debut of Aaishvary Thackeray. The story promises an intense blend of love, betrayal, redemption, and crime.

A promo released by the makers has already sparked interest online, with fans reacting enthusiastically. Some called it a long-awaited return to Kashyap's signature style of storytelling, while others expressed their excitement to see something “raw and real” again from the filmmaker. Nishaanchi also features Monika Panwar, known for Khauf, alongside acclaimed performers Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Kumud Mishra. The promo hinted at a layered narrative driven by emotional intensity, gritty visuals, and psychological depth.

Speaking about the film, Anurag Kashyap revealed that Nishaanchi was originally written in 2016 and had been waiting for the right time and support to come to life. “I’ve been looking to make this film the way it deserves to be made. Amazon MGM Studios believed in the story, and that trust helped us build it without compromise,” he said in a statement.

Produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under Jar Pictures, in association with Flip Films, Nishaanchi will be distributed by Amazon MGM Studios. The filmmaker emphasized that his most beloved films were backed by fearless producers, and Nishaanchi is no different. Describing the plot, Kashyap said the film explores raw human emotions love, lust, betrayal, crime, punishment, and redemption.
