One of the Biggest Telugu Stars Says No to Dhoom 4, Rejects Bollywood Offer

The Dhoom franchise, a staple in Indian cinema for over a decade, dominated the box office with its action-packed blockbusters. However, in recent years, Bollywood has seen a shift, with the focus on franchise-based action films slowing down. In contrast, Telugu cinema has steadily gained popularity nationwide, especially after the success of Baahubali.

As Bollywood's production houses look to tap into this growing market, some of the biggest Telugu stars have been approached for major Bollywood films. Despite the rising interest, the trend has not always been successful. Films like Ram Charan’s Zanjeer, Prabhas’ Adipurush, and more recently, Jr. NTR’s War 2, failed to make the desired impact at the box office. This has sparked debate among the Telugu audience about their stars’ involvement in Hindi films.

A Bold Move: Rejection of Dhoom 4

The latest update comes from Yash Raj Films (YRF), which is reportedly working on Dhoom 4, a continuation of one of Bollywood’s most iconic action franchises. Sources suggest that the film is looking to Ranbir Kapoor as its lead, and in a bid to attract a larger audience, YRF reached out to a prominent Telugu star, who is currently enjoying massive success from a recent blockbuster. The actor, however, has turned down the offer. This is not the first time this particular Telugu star has declined a Bollywood opportunity. Previously, he was approached for a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, a role that eventually went to Sanjay Dutt after the star passed on the offer.

The rejections are a sign of the changing dynamics between Bollywood and Telugu cinema. With the success of Pushpa, RRR, and Baahubali, Telugu stars now have more control over the projects they take on, allowing them to carefully select roles that align with their image rather than just pursuing Hindi films for national recognition. As the Telugu film industry continues to grow, it’s clear that these stars no longer see Bollywood as the ultimate platform for success. The rise of South Indian films on their own terms is reshaping the future of Indian cinema.
