Malayalam Actress Swasika Rejects Ram Charan’s Peddi, Here’s The Real Reason
Ram Charan, who rose to international fame with RRR, is among the biggest stars in Indian cinema. His upcoming film Peddi has been creating buzz, but a surprising development has caught the attention of fans. Malayalam actress Swasika, known for her character-driven performances, reportedly turned down a crucial role in the film despite repeated requests from the team.
According to reports, she was offered the role of Ram Charan’s mother. The casting decision didn’t sit well with Swasika, who is 33, while Charan is 40. Though she has taken up mature roles in Tamil and Malayalam films, she felt uncomfortable portraying the mother of an actor older than her. Swasika clarified that she isn’t ready for such roles at this stage of her career and hence declined the offer, even though it was a prestigious opportunity.
Swasika began her acting journey in 2009, debuting in Tamil cinema with Vagai before building a career across Tamil and Malayalam films. She also made small appearances in Telugu films like Etu Chusina Nuvve and Thammudu. While her Telugu projects did not bring her the desired breakthrough, her performances in films like Maman, where she played Soori’s elder sister, earned her strong appreciation.
At present, Swasika is busy with multiple projects, including a significant role in Karuppu starring Suriya. Her decision to reject Peddi might have cost her a chance to gain wider Telugu recognition, but it reflects her conscious career choices. For now, Swasika continues to balance her work across industries while maintaining her stand on the roles she believes are right for her.
