NBK Confirms Akhanda 2 Postponement, New Release Planned For December 2025

Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu, one of Tollywood’s most successful actor-director duos, are back with Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, the much-anticipated sequel to their blockbuster hit Akhanda. Known for delivering back-to-back successes with Simha, Legend, and Akhanda, the duo’s reunion has created massive hype. However, fans waiting for the September 25, 2025 release were left disappointed after Balakrishna himself confirmed that the film has been postponed.

Addressing the media in his hometown Nimmakuru, Balakrishna revealed that Akhanda 2 will now hit theaters in the first week of December 2025. While the exact date will be announced later, he assured fans that the wait would be worth it.

Reason Behind The Postponement

Balakrishna explained that composer Thaman requested additional time to fine-tune the film’s background score, as the scale of Akhanda 2 is much larger. He said, We saw subwoofers blasting in theaters for Akhanda, so he may need more time to do justice to Akhanda 2. The sequel will be 50 times the scale and experience of the first part.

Apart from the music, pending post-production and patchwork work also influenced the delay. Industry insiders note that shifting to December is a strategic move, as it avoids a direct clash with Pawan Kalyan’s OG, which was slated around the same time. A box-office face-off between the two giants could have dented collections for both films, making this rescheduling a win-win for everyone.

The buzz around Akhanda 2 remains strong, with fans eager to see how Boyapati Sreenu once again crafts Balakrishna’s larger-than-life screen presence. With promises of bigger action, grander visuals, and an electrifying score, expectations are sky-high. The December release may test the patience of fans, but it also raises the anticipation for what is being touted as one of the biggest Tollywood spectacles of 2025.
