Sadhguru Defends Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama Role in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana

Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, founder of the Isha Foundation, recently spoke about Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Lord Rama in the upcoming film Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The actor has faced mixed reactions and online trolling for his appearance and role, with social media divided over his transformation into the mythological character.

Addressing the criticism, Sadhguru stated that playing Lord Rama is a rare and sacred opportunity for any actor. He emphasized that an artist must fully transform to do justice to such an iconic role. Drawing parallels from Indian cinema history, Sadhguru mentioned how legendary actor N.T. Rama Rao (NTR) was revered as Lord Krishna for his performances and even carried that divine image into his political career.

Sadhguru further added that people naturally expect gentleness and divinity from someone portraying Lord Rama. He praised Ranbir Kapoor’s professionalism and urged the audience to view the film with an open mind. “If the actor absorbs Rama’s qualities, it’s wonderful. It’s unfair to troll Ranbir—he’s doing his job,” he said. Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, and Yash, is set for a grand Diwali 2026 release, promising to be one of the most awaited mythological epics in Indian cinema.
