71st National Film Awards: Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Vikrant Massey To Be Honoured In Delhi
The 71st National Film Awards are set to be one of the most glittering nights for Indian cinema, with Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi ready to welcome the industry’s biggest stars on September 23, 2025, at 4:00 pm. President Droupadi Murmu will present the honours, making it a landmark celebration of cinematic excellence.
Among the highlights this year is Shah Rukh Khan, who finally clinches his first National Award for Best Actor for his blockbuster Jawan. He shares the honour with Vikrant Massey, who won over audiences and critics alike with his role in 12th Fail. Rani Mukerji takes home Best Actress for her powerful performance in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.
The awards were announced earlier at a press conference at the National Media Centre, New Delhi, by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker and jury members. Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail bagged the Best Feature Film award, while Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was declared Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Sudipto Sen received Best Director for The Kerala Story.
Other big winners include Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur, which won for Best Makeup, Best Costume Design, and Best Feature Film Promoting National, Social, and Environmental Values. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani also won Best Choreography, while films such as Kathal, Hanu-Man, and Animal were recognised across multiple categories.
The ceremony is expected to see a star-studded turnout with Shah Rukh Khan, Vikrant Massey, Rani Mukerji, and Karan Johar confirmed to attend. Winners will receive travel and accommodation support as per government protocol.
