Vanara Sena Files Complaint Against SS Rajamouli Over Remarks On Hanuman At Globetrotter Event
SS Rajamouli, one of India’s most celebrated filmmakers, has found himself at the center of an unexpected controversy after comments he made during the Globetrotter launch event stirred strong reactions. During his speech, Rajamouli reportedly stated that he does not personally believe in Hanuman, a remark that immediately drew criticism from several Hindu organisations. The statement, perceived by some as atheist in nature, sparked widespread discussion across social media platforms and news channels, with many expressing disappointment and questioning the intent behind his comments.
In response to the remarks, members of the Rashtriya Vanara Sena filed a formal complaint against SS Rajamouli at the Saroornagar Police Station in Hyderabad. They alleged that the filmmaker made derogatory comments about Lord Hanuman in a public gathering and demanded that legal action be taken. According to reports, the organisation stated that Rajamouli’s words deeply hurt the religious sentiments of millions of Hindus and that such statements cannot be dismissed as casual comments from a public figure of his stature. They also expressed concern over what they describe as a rising trend of disrespect towards Hindu deities within the film industry.
The Vanara Sena members urged the authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure accountability, arguing that influential personalities must speak responsibly when addressing sensitive subjects in public forums. They believe that Rajamouli’s remarks could set a negative precedent if left unaddressed, particularly given his massive reach and influence on audiences worldwide.
The Saroornagar Police have acknowledged receiving the complaint, but no action has been taken as of now. Officials stated that they are reviewing the allegations and will proceed in accordance with legal procedures. Meanwhile, discussions continue to intensify online, with supporters and critics voicing contrasting opinions. Some defend Rajamouli’s right to personal belief, while others insist that religious sentiments should not be undermined by leading figures in the entertainment industry.
