Akhanda 2 Box Office Shock: Balakrishna Film Opens Big Despite Mixed Reviews

Akhanda 2 Box Office Shock: Balakrishna Film Opens Big Despite Mixed Reviews

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much-awaited sequel Akhanda 2 has made a powerful entry at the box office, surprising both fans and trade analysts. Despite facing multiple delays and low pre-release expectations, the film opened to impressive numbers worldwide. The movie, which finally hit theatres with grand premieres this week, has proven that Balakrishna’s mass appeal remains strong, especially in traditional strongholds.

Trade reports indicate that Akhanda 2 collected over ₹40 crore gross worldwide on its opening day. When premiere show collections are taken into account, the total is expected to comfortably cross the ₹50 crore mark. While the official figures from the producers are yet to be released, early estimates suggest a solid start that has exceeded initial predictions.

The film has received its biggest support from B and C centres, where Balakrishna continues to enjoy a loyal fan base. Though reviews have been mixed and comparisons with the first Akhanda are inevitable, the core audience seems to be responding positively. High-voltage mass moments, powerful dialogues, and devotional undertones have worked well for the film, driving strong footfalls in single screens and mass belts.

Collections from dubbed versions in other languages have been below expectations so far. While the team made efforts to promote the film in Hindi, promotional reach in other regions remained limited. However, trade experts believe that the film’s Dharma-driven narrative and Hindutva elements could gradually attract audiences in North India over the weekend.

With the crucial weekend ahead, Akhanda 2 is well-positioned to post even stronger numbers in the coming days. Directed by Boyapati Srinu and produced by 14 Reels Plus Entertainment, the film has already defied pre-release assumptions and reasserted Balakrishna’s box office stamina. If momentum continues, Akhanda 2 could emerge as one of the notable commercial successes of the season.
