Vijay’s Jana Nayagan crosses 1 million interests on BookMyShow amid legal delay

Vijay’s Jana Nayagan crosses 1 million interests on BookMyShow amid legal delay

Actor Vijay’s much awaited film Jana Nayagan has created a massive wave of anticipation by crossing one million expressions of interest on BookMyShow even before its theatrical release. The milestone highlights the unwavering support of Vijay’s fan base despite the film facing legal uncertainty over its certification. More than a million users have clicked the “I’m interested” option on the ticketing platform, proving that excitement for the film continues to grow regardless of its delayed release schedule. Jana Nayagan was initially slated to hit theatres on January 9, but the Central Board of Film Certification withheld clearance and referred the film to a revising committee, triggering a legal battle that postponed its debut.

The certification issue escalated when the Madras High Court became involved in the dispute between the film’s producers and the CBFC. Although a Single Bench earlier directed the board to certify the film with a U/A rating, the order was later stayed by a Division Bench. The producers then approached the Supreme Court seeking immediate certification, but the apex court declined to intervene and sent the matter back to the Madras High Court. The court also criticised the urgency with which the filmmakers attempted to push the certification process. As a result, the film’s fate now depends on the High Court hearing scheduled for January 20, leaving fans anxiously awaiting clarity.

Jana Nayagan holds special importance as it is widely considered Vijay’s final film before his full-time political entry following the launch of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. This emotional context has further strengthened audience interest and online engagement. Despite legal roadblocks, fans continue to rally behind the project, turning Jana Nayagan into one of the most discussed Tamil films even without a confirmed release date. The overwhelming response on BookMyShow reflects how deeply Vijay’s cinematic journey resonates with audiences. As the court hearing approaches, all eyes remain on the verdict that will decide when this landmark film can finally reach theatres, potentially marking the end of an era in Tamil cinema.
