Border 2 box office day 4: Sunny Deol film storms past Rs 150 crore on Republic Day

Border 2, headlined by Sunny Deol along with Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty, is rewriting box office records with a phenomenal run across India. The film took full advantage of the extended Republic Day holiday weekend and delivered its biggest shock on Monday by earning a massive Rs 59 crore in a single day. With this, the film’s domestic total has surged to approximately Rs 180 crore in just four days, firmly establishing it as one of the biggest Bollywood successes of the year. Trade analysts note that Border 2 has not only passed the crucial Monday test but has also registered one of the highest Republic Day collections ever for a Hindi film, underlining the strong emotional connect the film has built with audiences.

According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Border 2 opened with an impressive Rs 30 crore on Friday, followed by steady growth on Saturday with Rs 36.5 crore. The film witnessed a sharp 49 percent jump on Sunday, comfortably crossing the Rs 100 crore milestone within its opening weekend. The real surprise came on Monday, when patriotic fervour and strong word of mouth pushed collections to an all-time high for the film. Border 2 has already surpassed the opening weekend figures of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, signaling a clear shift in audience preference toward large-scale, mass-driven cinema. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh described the film’s performance as a tsunami, highlighting how tier-2 and tier-3 markets have outperformed expectations, with packed theatres and housefull shows returning across circuits.

Echoing the positive trade sentiment, filmmaker Karan Johar reacted to the back-to-back success of Dhurandhar and Border 2 by declaring that Bollywood is back. The film’s strong performance has proven that social media chatter and pre-release criticism have had little impact on genuine audience turnout. Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 celebrates the courage and sacrifices of Indian soldiers while blending emotion, patriotism, and large-scale action. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and Krishan Kumar, the film has struck a chord with both urban audiences and mass belts alike. With its unstoppable momentum and strong hold on weekdays, Border 2 is expected to continue its dominant run at the Indian box office in the days ahead.
