After the success of her production venture Committee Kurrollu, Niharika Konidela is back with a new project titled Rākāsā. The film is a horror comedy, a genre that has been long awaited in Telugu cinema. The film stars Sangeeth Shobhan in the lead role, which seems perfectly suited for his talents. Manasa Sharma, marking her directorial debut, takes charge of bringing this unique horror comedy story to life. The film is designed to provide both scares and laughter, blending two seemingly opposing genres into a cohesive storyline. This makes the film an exciting new addition to Telugu cinema.
The Rākāsā teaser introduces a village gripped by supernatural forces, narrated by Tanikella Bharani, creating an eerie atmosphere. Veeru, played by Sangeeth Shobhan, returns to the village from the USA and gets unintentionally involved in a series of comical and supernatural events. As the story unfolds, Veeru begins to realize that the village is haunted, and the comedy takes a darker turn as he tries to figure out how to tackle the ghostly presence. The film seems to follow the typical commercial formula for horror comedy, combining humor with creepy moments, a winning formula for many successful films. Despite its conventional setup, the film benefits from fresh visuals and a talented cast, which will likely keep the audience engaged throughout.
The casting also brings a sense of excitement, with Nayana Sarika playing the female lead and Anudeep Dev providing the music, which adds to the film’s appeal. The film stands out due to its unique blend of horror and comedy, a genre that hasn't been explored much in recent years in Telugu cinema. The success of Kishkindhapuri shows that there is an audience eager for more horror-comedy films, and Rākāsā could help revive this genre. If successful, it could set a precedent for more films in this category.
With a release date set for April 3, 2026, Rākāsā is expected to generate significant interest, particularly due to its unique genre and fresh approach to horror-comedy. The film is set to be a key player in Telugu cinema's push towards more diverse genres and will be watched closely by audiences and industry experts alike. Fans are excited to see how Sangeeth Shobhan handles the role of Veeru, and how the ghostly elements will be balanced with comedic undertones, creating a unique viewing experience. With its fresh approach, Rākāsā may just bring horror comedy back into the spotlight, reviving interest in a genre that’s been on the sidelines for too long.
