Weinstein Responds to Gwyneth Paltrow's Claims: I Never Put My Hands on Her

Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood producer currently serving a prison sentence, has reignited his longstanding dispute with actress Gwyneth Paltrow. In a recent interview from Rikers prison, Weinstein dismissed Paltrow's claims of sexual misconduct, particularly the now-infamous "massage" incident, calling it a "big deal over nothing." Weinstein's comments come after Paltrow went public with her allegations during the #MeToo movement investigations in 2017, recounting how Weinstein allegedly asked for a massage after she was cast in Emma (1996).

Weinstein, who was speaking from prison for the first time, claimed that nothing inappropriate happened, stating, "I walked out of a nice meeting with her and said, 'How about a massage?' And she just went, 'No, I don’t think so.'" He emphasized that he never touched her and criticized her for making a spectacle out of a minor incident. Weinstein also recalled a confrontation with Paltrow’s then-boyfriend, actor Brad Pitt, who allegedly warned him to stay away from Paltrow. According to Weinstein, Paltrow later exaggerated the incident in interviews, including with Howard Stern and The New York Times, which he felt was a betrayal.

Weinstein also brought up other actresses, including Rosanna Arquette and Angelina Jolie, claiming they, too, exaggerated their experiences with him in an effort to "be part of the club." Despite facing multiple accusations, Weinstein denied ever blacklisting or retaliating against women who rejected his advances, claiming that his mere presence in Hollywood was enough to intimidate.

Paltrow, who has since become a prominent voice in the #MeToo movement, was supported by her then-partner Brad Pitt during the ordeal. Pitt reportedly confronted Weinstein at a Broadway event in 1995, telling him to never make Paltrow feel uncomfortable again. Reflecting on Pitt's intervention, Paltrow described it as a powerful moment that leveraged his fame to protect her when she was still early in her career. Despite Weinstein's attempt to downplay the severity of his actions, Paltrow, Arquette, and Jolie remain vocal in their accusations, highlighting the ongoing controversy surrounding Weinstein's legacy in Hollywood.
