Nandamuri Balakrishna Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at IFFD Delhi 2026
The inaugural edition of the International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) recently made headlines as it honored one of the most iconic figures in Indian cinema, Nandamuri Balakrishna, with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Balakrishna, also known as Balayya, was celebrated for his monumental contributions to Telugu cinema, spanning over five decades. Having acted in more than 100 films, his cinematic journey has left an indelible mark on the film industry, earning him widespread admiration.
In addition to Balakrishna’s remarkable accolade, the event also honored Bollywood legend Sharmila Tagore with the Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema Award. Furthermore, a special posthumous tribute was paid to Dharmendra, one of Bollywood’s most beloved actors. His wife, Hema Malini, graciously accepted the award on his behalf, bringing a sense of nostalgia to the occasion.
The event, launched by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, Delhi, witnessed an impressive gathering of film industry stalwarts and political leaders. Along with the honorees, the ceremony was attended by influential personalities such as Delhi’s Deputy CM Parvesh Verma, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Education Minister Ashish Sood. It also attracted celebrated actors like Kangana Ranaut, Manoj Tiwari, Aravind Swamy, and others.
IFFD’s grand celebrations are set to continue until March 31, showcasing a curated selection of films from around the globe, with a special focus on Spanish cinema. The festival’s launch marks a new chapter for Delhi’s cultural and cinematic landscape, making it an exciting hub for international cinema enthusiasts.
