Kapoor Family Secures Copyright for Rishi Kapoor's Name to Protect Legacy

In a move to protect the legacy of late actor Rishi Kapoor, the Kapoor familyhas taken legal steps to secure the rights over the use of his name. This decision was made to prevent any unauthorized commercial useof Rishi Kapoor's name without the family's prior consent.

According to a source, the family recently obtained copyrightfor the actor's name, ensuring that anyone wishing to use “Rishi Kapoor”in a professional, commercial, or public capacity must seek permission from the family. This step is a way to safeguard the late actor's identity and prevent misuse in any manner that could tarnish his legacy or be commercially exploited without authorization.

Rishi Kapoor, one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic stars, passed away on April 30, 2020, after a prolonged battle with leukemia. Over his nearly five-decade-long career, he appeared in more than 150 films, becoming known for his roles in romantic classicslike Bobbyand character-driven rolesin movies such as Agneepath, Kapoor & Sons, and Mulk. His work continues to inspire and impact Bollywood today.
