Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi Crosses Rs 100 Crore Globally, Fifth Milestone for Actor

Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Sreeleela, and Ravi Mohan, has achieved a significant box office milestone, crossing the Rs 100 crore mark globally in just 10 days since its release on January 10, 2026. This achievement marks Parasakthi as Sivakarthikeyan’s fifth film to surpass the Rs 100 crore milestone, further solidifying his status as a consistent box-office performer.

Despite receiving mixed reviews, Parasakthi performed exceptionally well at the box office, largely driven by Sivakarthikeyan's fan base and the film's historical and political drama setting, set in 1960s Madras. The production house, Dawn Pictures, confirmed the film's success, proudly stating that it had "stormed past the 100 crore mark worldwide." The film’s pre-release buzz and its political themes contributed to its mass appeal, making it one of the biggest hits of the year.

Parasakthi joins the ranks of Sivakarthikeyan's other box-office successes, including films like Doctor, Don, Amaran, and Madharaasi, all of which also crossed the Rs 100 crore mark. The film was originally set for a clash with Vijay's Jana Nayagan during Pongal, but due to delays in the latter's release caused by certification issues, Parasakthi stood uncontested at the box office. The film’s success was also despite concerns raised by actor and producer Dev Ramnath, who claimed that some fans of Vijay were attempting to sabotage Parasakthi by giving it negative reviews. However, this did not seem to hinder the film's strong performance.

Directed by Sudha Kongara, Parasakthi features a political drama involving two brothers engaged in the anti-Hindi imposition agitation in Tamil Nadu during the 1960s. The film's historical themes and the 25 cuts required by the CBFC added to its intrigue, and its ensemble cast, including Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, and Guru Somasundaram, delivered solid performances, contributing to the film’s strong box office run. As Parasakthi continues its run in cinemas, Sivakarthikeyan's growing list of hits ensures that he remains one of Tamil cinema's top stars, with a career marked by successful ventures and record-breaking performances.
