Veteran Telugu actor Rajendra Prasadrecently found himself embroiled in a controversyafter making remarks about the legendary Tamil actor and former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), widely revered as a godlike figure in Tamil cinema.

During a recent event where he was praising Kanta Rao, the iconic Telugu actor known for his folk films, Rajendra Prasad made a comment about MGR that quickly sparked outrage. Although the statement was made in Telugu, it was widely shared on social mediaand reached Tamil audiences, who were deeply offended by his words. MGR is a revered figure, not only in Tamil cinema but also in Tamil culture, and the backlash was intense.

Among those reacting to the comment was Tamil actor Vishal, who called out Rajendra Prasad on social mediaand demanded an apology. The criticism surrounding the statement quickly gained traction, with many expressing their displeasure at the actor’s remarks about the late icon.

In response to the backlash, Rajendra Prasadtook to social media with a video apology. He clarified that he holds immense respectfor MGR and acknowledged how important the actor is to the Tamil people. Rajendra Prasad explained that during the event, while he was discussing Kanta Rao's greatness, his words were inadvertently misinterpreted and blown out of proportion. He emphasized that he would never intentionally disrespect a legendary figure like MGR.

The actor also recalled that during his time at the Madras Film Institute, when MGR was the Chief Minister, MGR had visited the institute to watch students perform, further solidifying the respect he holds for him. He admitted that the remark was a mistake and expressed regret if his words had hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Rajendra Prasad, in an attempt to mend the situation, delivered his apology in Tamil, addressing the Tamil audience directly and requesting everyone to move forward from the issue. His apology videohas been met with a more forgiving response, as fans and film industry members appreciate the actor's humility and understanding of the impact his words had.
