The makers of SS Rajamouli’s much-awaited film Varanasi unveiled Priyanka Chopra’s first look as Mandakini on Friday, July 17, 2026, as a birthday surprise for the actor and her fans. The character poster shows Priyanka dressed in black, holding a gun and wearing an intense expression, suggesting that Mandakini will play a powerful and mysterious role in the film.
The Varanasi movie first look quickly attracted attention across social media, with fans praising Priyanka’s commanding screen presence. Rajamouli introduced the character with the words, “Grace when she smiles. Fire when she doesn’t,” highlighting Mandakini’s contrasting personality. Some users also compared the poster with Deepika Padukone’s appearance in Kalki 2898 AD, while others said Priyanka’s character appeared fresh and unlike her earlier roles.
Varanasi marks Priyanka Chopra’s Indian cinema comeback after The Sky Is Pink, which was released in 2019.
