Spider-Man: Brand New Day has reportedly sold more than 1.4 lakh opening-day tickets in India and is targeting 5 lakh pre-sales before release.
Advance Booking Crosses 1.4 Lakh Opening-Day Tickets
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has made a powerful start at the Indian box office, recording more than 1.4 lakh opening-day ticket sales across PVR Inox and Cinepolis by noon on Tuesday, July 21.
The figure was recorded with more than a week remaining before the film’s theatrical arrival, indicating strong demand for Tom Holland’s return as Peter Parker. Trade reports now expect bookings to accelerate as more shows and regular formats become available closer to release.
The current total refers to opening-day tickets sold through the leading national chains and should not be confused with the film’s complete all-India advance gross or total tickets sold across every cinema network.
Odyssey Record Beaten Before Spider-Man Release
The superhero film has reportedly moved past the final opening-day national-chain pre-sales achieved by Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Pinkvilla reported that The Odyssey had sold approximately 75,000 opening-day tickets in the same leading chains two days before its release.
Brand New Day’s early lead reflects the popularity of the Spider-Man franchise in India, along with demand for dubbed versions and premium formats. However, advance-booking figures can continue changing until the final night before release as cinemas add shows and revise screen allocations.
The comparison is therefore an early indicator of audience interest rather than a guarantee that Spider-Man will ultimately earn more than The Odyssey during its complete theatrical run.
Box Office Opening Could Reach Rs 40–48 Crore
Based on the current booking pace, trade estimates suggest that Spider-Man: Brand New Day could collect between Rs 40 crore and Rs 48 crore nett on its opening day in India. The forecast may be revised if ticket sales continue rising during the final week.
The film is also being projected to cross 5 lakh opening-day advance tickets in the national chains. That figure remains a target rather than a confirmed achievement, and final sales will depend on show count, ticket prices, regional demand and audience response to the last phase of promotions. Box-office projections are unofficial trade estimates and should not be treated as final collection figures.
No Way Home Benchmark Remains the Major Target
Spider-Man: No Way Home reportedly sold around 5.5 lakh advance tickets in India before its 2021 release, giving Brand New Day a major franchise benchmark to pursue. The earlier film also delivered one of the strongest Indian theatrical performances for a Hollywood superhero release.
Sony Pictures is releasing Spider-Man: Brand New Day in India on July 30, one day before its July 31 global release. It will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
With bookings already ahead of The Odyssey in the major chains, the final week will determine whether Tom Holland’s latest Spider-Man film can cross the 5 lakh target and approach the advance-sales level achieved by No Way Home.
