Nandamuri Balakrishna is reportedly determined to return to the sets of NBK 111 sooner than expected despite undergoing major knee surgery following an injury sustained during filming. The senior Telugu star has reportedly informed director Gopichand Malineni and the production team that he plans to resume shooting next month.
Balakrishna suffered a serious leg injury while working on NBK 111 and underwent knee surgery toward the end of July. Although he is yet to complete his recovery, the actor is said to be keen on ensuring that the film does not face a lengthy delay and has asked the makers to prepare for his return.
NBK 111 September Shoot Restart Being Planned
The NBK 111 team is reportedly preparing to resume Balakrishna’s portions in early September. The makers are expected to schedule the pending scenes carefully around the actor’s recovery and complete his remaining work as quickly as possible.
Balakrishna’s decision to return to the set is significant as the injury had raised questions over whether the film’s production and release plans could be affected. However, the actor is reportedly committed to the existing schedule and has conveyed his intention to get back in front of the camera once he is medically ready. Director Gopichand Malineni and his team are now said to be making the necessary arrangements for the upcoming schedule.
Balakrishna Knee Surgery Recovery Keeps Team Alert
While Balakrishna is eager to resume work, his health and recovery are expected to remain the priority when filming restarts. The actor underwent a major procedure after injuring his knee during the shoot, making the September schedule dependent on how quickly he regains full fitness.
The filmmakers are reportedly hoping to complete Balakrishna’s portions soon after his return. Finishing the lead actor’s work would allow the team to move more aggressively into post-production, including editing, sound work, visual effects and other technical processes.
The early completion of shooting would also give the makers additional time to begin promotional activities and build momentum ahead of the theatrical release.
December Release Targeted Ahead of Sankranthi 2027
Balakrishna is reportedly keen on bringing NBK 111 to theatres in December 2026 rather than entering the crowded Sankranthi 2027 race. If the production stays on schedule following his return, the makers could push ahead with post-production and promotions with the year-end release window in mind.
A December arrival would also give NBK 111 some breathing space before several major Telugu films compete during the Pongal and Sankranthi holiday period.
The release strategy is therefore expected to depend heavily on Balakrishna’s recovery and how smoothly the September shooting schedule progresses.
Sankranthi 2027 Telugu Release Race Gets Crowded
The upcoming Sankranthi season is already shaping up to be highly competitive. Chiranjeevi’s Mega158 is among the major films aiming for the festive window, while other star-driven projects are also reportedly targeting Pongal.
Films involving Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Ravi Teja and Sharwanand are among the titles being discussed for the Sankranthi 2027 period, making it one of the busiest release corridors on the Telugu cinema calendar.
By targeting December, NBK 111 could avoid a direct clash with several big-ticket releases while still benefiting from the year-end holiday period. For now, attention remains focused on Balakrishna’s recovery and his proposed return to the sets in September.
If the actor is able to resume filming as planned, NBK 111 could stay on course for its intended December theatrical release and begin promotions soon after completing the remaining shoot.
