Meena Kumari Biopic: Kriti Sanon and Manish Malhotra’s project delayed again

16 Jul 2024 06:17 AM

The eagerly anticipated Meena Kumari biopic, initially set to begin filming in 2023, has been delayed once again, now expected to start in early 2025. Kriti Sanon is slated to portray the iconic actress, with Manish Malhotra making his directorial debut. According to a Mid-day report, Malhotra is meticulously revisiting the script to ensure accuracy, with multiple script doctors vetting the material.

The delay allows for thorough pre-production planning, crucial for authentically recreating the golden age of Hindi cinema. Costumes, a significant aspect of the period drama, will also be carefully crafted. This yet-untitled film marks Kriti Sanon's first biopic, promising a poignant tribute to Meena Kumari, known for her unforgettable roles in classics like Baiju Bawra, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, and Pakeezah. The film aims to release in the first half of 2025
