Mumbai, India: Hanuman Ansh has staged a stunning box-office comeback, crossing ₹8 crore after struggling during its first two weeks.
Hanuman Ansh Box Office Collection Records Dramatic Turnaround
At a time when several big-budget films are struggling to maintain their theatrical momentum, the modestly mounted devotional drama Hanuman Ansh has emerged as one of the most unexpected box-office successes of 2026.
Inspired by the life and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba, the Hindi film opened with limited awareness and collected approximately ₹85 lakh during its first week, according to trade estimates. Its performance weakened further in the second week, when it reportedly added only about ₹45 lakh.
The film earned nearly ₹1.30 crore net during its first 14 days, and many exhibitors reduced its shows because of low initial demand. Its screen count reportedly dropped from approximately 200 during the opening week to only around 40 in the second week.
However, positive audience reactions and a renewed promotional effort helped the film reverse its downward trend. Demand began increasing across several markets, encouraging cinema owners to restore shows that had previously been removed.
Hanuman Ansh Screen Count Jumps From 40 To Nearly 400
The most striking part of the comeback was the rapid expansion of the film’s theatrical presence. Hanuman Ansh reportedly returned to nearly 400 screens in its third week, giving it twice as many screens as it had during its opening week.
The devotional drama collected approximately ₹10 lakh on its third Friday, followed by nearly ₹90 lakh on Saturday. Its business then accelerated sharply on Sunday, with different trade sources estimating collections between ₹2.15 crore and ₹2.40 crore.
The movie reached approximately ₹4.70 crore net after its third weekend. That represented a remarkable improvement for a film that had collected only ₹1.30 crore during its first two weeks.
The growth continued on weekdays. The movie reportedly earned approximately ₹1.15 crore on its third Monday before rising to around ₹2.35 crore on discounted Tuesday. That took its estimated India net collection past ₹8 crore in 19 days.
Trade estimates can vary because producers, distributors and independent tracking platforms may use different reporting methods. Updated figures published by Bollywood Hungama placed the film’s running India collection at approximately ₹9.05 crore.
Hanuman Ansh Word Of Mouth Drives Devotional Drama’s Success
Strong word of mouth appears to be the most important reason behind the turnaround. The film’s spiritual subject and portrayal of Neem Karoli Baba gradually attracted devotees, family audiences and viewers interested in faith-based cinema.
Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Mumbai reportedly emerged as some of the movie’s strongest markets. The improvement in these regions persuaded exhibitors to add more screenings despite competition from major releases, including Yash’s Toxic.
The film’s performance also shows that opening-weekend numbers do not always determine the final fate of a theatrical release. Smaller movies can recover when favourable audience reactions create sustained demand and exhibitors respond by increasing shows.
Box Office India described Hanuman Ansh as a success that could eventually secure hit status if its strong run continues. The publication noted that changing promotional awareness among Neem Karoli Baba’s followers contributed to the film’s sudden growth.
Hanuman Ansh Sleeper Hit Status Depends On Continued Momentum
Hanuman Ansh has reportedly recovered its modest production costs and entered the profitable stage of its theatrical run. Its ability to grow during the third week makes it a notable sleeper-hit candidate, although its final classification will depend on its lifetime collection and the methodology used by trade trackers.
The movie now faces competition from new releases and must retain enough screens to continue its momentum. Its unusually strong weekday collections suggest that audience interest has extended beyond a single weekend.
Trade projections indicate that the film could close its third week with a significantly higher total if demand remains steady. Estimated that it could reach around ₹11 crore net by the end of the week.
From a film reduced to only a few dozen screens to a profitable theatrical success, Hanuman Ansh has delivered one of the year’s most remarkable box-office recoveries. Its performance underlines the continuing power of audience recommendations, regional demand and well-timed exhibition support.
