The first major teaser for HBO’s Harry Potter series offers a closer look at Hogwarts, its professors and the magical challenges awaiting the young trio.
Dominic McLaughlin plays Harry, while Alastair Stout appears as Ron and Arabella Stanton takes on the role of Hermione. The series will begin by adapting Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the first novel in JK Rowling’s fantasy series.
The two-minute, 37-second teaser follows Harry as he leaves his ordinary life behind and enters the wizarding world. He meets Ron and Hermione before the three students are sorted into Gryffindor and begin their first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The supporting cast includes John Lithgow as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape. Nick Frost appears as Rubeus Hagrid, the friendly Hogwarts gamekeeper who introduces Harry to the wizarding world.
The wider cast features Luke Thallon, Paul Whitehouse, Bertie Carvel, Johnny Flynn, Bel Powley, Daniel Rigby, Katherine Parkinson, Warwick Davis and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy.
The teaser offers brief glimpses of Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape and Hagrid interacting with the students. Their appearances indicate that the television adaptation will spend more time developing the teachers and other characters who shape Harry’s first year.
Harry Potter Series Recreates Famous Magical Moments
Several familiar sequences from Philosopher’s Stone appear in the footage. Harry is seen discovering the Invisibility Cloak and looking into the Mirror of Erised, which reveals a person’s deepest desire.
The teaser also previews the trio’s encounter with a mountain troll inside a Hogwarts bathroom. Another scene shows the dangerous giant chessboard challenge, while Quidditch practice and classroom moments provide a glimpse of everyday student life.
Herbology and Potions lessons also feature in the teaser, suggesting that the series will explore Hogwarts in greater detail. The longer television format could allow the adaptation to include characters, mysteries and storylines that received less screen time in the earlier films.
The series is intended to revisit Rowling’s novels one book at a time. This approach gives the creative team additional space to develop the wizarding world while introducing the story to a new generation of viewers.
Harry Potter Series Release and Streaming Details
Francesca Gardiner serves as writer and executive producer, while Mark Mylod will direct multiple episodes. HBO is producing the series in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros Television.
The executive-producing team also includes JK Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and David Heyman of Heyday Films. Heyman previously worked on the Harry Potter film franchise, giving the television production a connection to the earlier adaptations.
The Harry Potter series is scheduled to premiere on HBO during Christmas 2026 in the United States. Indian viewers will be able to stream it on JioHotstar, although the platform is expected to provide more information about the exact release time closer to the premiere.
