Nandamuri Balakrishna has collaborated with Anil Ravipudi for Bhagavanth Kesari which has released in theaters today. Let us see what the film has to offer.
Story: Nelakonda Bhagavanth Kesari is a rural man who serves jail time and he develops a bonding with Vijji Papa(Sree Leela), the daughter of the jailer, Sarathkumar. With the passing of the jailer, Bhagavanth takes the responsibility of bringing up Vijji Papa.
How did the actors perform?
Balakrishna plays his age in the film and he looks fitting in the role. It is nice to see him in such a role. Sree Leela has the right demeanor for the role she played. Kajal gets a brief role and she is alright.
What about the technical finesse?
The director Anil Ravipudi picks an interesting script that has a good backdrop. But the narration is not up to the mark as we are taken down a tried and tested road of commercial cinema presentation.
Thaman's background score is loud. He delivers his usual grade electronic-heavy BGM and that works to an extent.
Analysis:
Bhagavanth Kesari is an actioner which covers the life story of Bhagavanth Kesari who sets out on a mission to upbring his jailer's daughter and make her fit to join the Indian army. His journey lays the foundation for the film.
Balakrishna excels in his role and he delivers a fiery performance. He looks good in the aged role and the presentation is equally fierce. Sree Leela performs well and she gives the right intensity to the role.
The comedy track in the opening half is weak and it bores the audience. The interval action block is highlighted through the loud BGM scored by Thaman and this works the trick.
The latter half is better paced and well-written when compared to the first half and this is where Ravipudi scores the better marks. The scene related to good touch and bad touch is wonderfully presented.
The climax has the right intensity. Had the build up to it been effective enough, the film would've made for a far better watch.
Verdict: Bhagavanth Kesari deals with a relevant message but the routine nature of the presentation and the weak comedy in opening half undo this good work to an extent. It might make for an okayish one-time watch.
