Krishnakumar Ramakumar deserves credit for attempting to bring GD Naidu's massive life story to the big screen. The period recreation, historical figures and numerous inventions give the film considerable scale.
The main weakness lies in the screenplay. Major developments are often introduced and resolved too quickly. A setback may be followed immediately by a major success without enough dramatic progression between the two.
The scenes involving Naidu's encounters with prominent political personalities, industrialists and historical figures generate curiosity but are rarely explored beyond brief appearances.
The recreation of the period occasionally works well, but the integration of archival-style visuals and some AI-generated imagery feels inconsistent and distracting.
The music largely serves the biographical narrative without becoming a major attraction on its own. The background score attempts to add grandeur and emotional weight to Naidu's achievements and confrontations. It works in selected portions but cannot always compensate for the screenplay's lack of emotional depth.
The film runs for approximately two hours and 27 minutes, yet the narrative still feels rushed because it attempts to cover too many incidents from GD Naidu's life.
Rather than allowing major moments to develop naturally, the editing frequently moves rapidly between inventions, business achievements, relationships and legal troubles. A more selective approach focusing on fewer defining chapters could have produced a stronger emotional journey.

G.D.N. successfully introduces audiences to the sheer scale of those accomplishments. From dismantling a motorcycle to understand its mechanics to establishing a huge transport business and developing innovative machines, the film repeatedly reminds viewers how far ahead of his time Naidu was.
Instead of building dramatic arcs around his most important victories and failures, the screenplay often treats them like entries on a timeline. One achievement follows another with little opportunity for viewers to emotionally experience the struggle behind them.
Naidu's personal relationships face the same problem. Significant developments involving Chellamma and Ranganayaki happen quickly, leaving little room to understand their emotional impact.
Similarly, the Income Tax conflict occupies a large portion of the narrative, but several supporting characters involved in the confrontation lack sufficient depth. Their motivations frequently appear simplified, reducing the dramatic power of Naidu's battles.
The sequence involving the auction of Naidu's assets has the potential to become one of the film's strongest emotional moments. However, the convenient resolution reduces its impact.
Scenes featuring historical personalities and Naidu's international encounters are fascinating because they reveal the scale of his influence. Yet the movie often introduces these events only briefly before moving on to another chapter.
Madhavan's performance remains the film's strongest anchor. His transformation and commitment convincingly communicate Naidu's restless intelligence and determination.
Ultimately, G.D.N. works better as an introduction to GD Naidu's extraordinary accomplishments than as a deeply emotional biopic. It informs and occasionally inspires, but rarely allows audiences to fully experience the man behind those achievements.
