Ahimsa Review: Age-old action drama

Ahimsa Review: Age-old action drama
  • 02 Jun 2023 01:16 AM

Ahimsa marks the acting debut of controversial Tollywood youngster Abhiram Daggubati. The film released in theaters today and it is promoted by Venkatesh and Rana. Here's what we have to say after watching the film.

Story: Raghu(Abhiram) and Ahalya(Geetika Tiwari) are deep in love. They intend to take their love life to the next stage. But this is when things take a turn for the worse as Raghu and Ahalya have a conflict in interests while tacking a major turbulence in their love lives.

How did the actors perform?

Abhiram is a debut actor and he looks alright in his role. He needs time to gel in and might get better with his next film. Geetika as the female lead suits the bill. They make a decent pair on screen. The rest of the cast is of decent caliber.

What about the technical finesse?

Ahimsa has music by RP Patnaik. Not a single song has a good vibe or repeat value. Patnaik had delivered chartbusters in the past but he has lost the touch now. The visuals are alright. The direction by Teja plays spoilsport.

Analysis:

Director Teja has a knack of delivering good films for debut heroes. He has been handed with the responsibility of directing Abhiram's maiden film. But he has failed miserably in devising a good film.

The film has an outdated narrative as the story and screenplay have the most dated vibe. The narration is patchy and doesn't pack a punch anywhere throughout the course of the film.

The hero is a soft person and the heroine is a mildly violent one. The conflict might sound interesting on paper but it needed to be presented in a good manner if it had to strike a chord with the audience.

With the outdated approach, the film falters in so many more ways than one and this doesn't bode with the lethargic presentation. The film makes the audience regret their choice of watching it on big screens.

Verdict: Ahmisa is possibly one of the worst Telugu films to have released in recent times. It is a poorly written and scrappily presented action drama that has a rural setup. You can give it a skip easily.

Rating: 1.5/5
