Telusu Kada : Latest Telugu Movie Review

Plot

Varun, a self-made orphan, dreams of having a loving family. His partner Raaga, however, believes in relationships without labels or marriage. After their breakup, Varun marries Anjali, only to discover they can’t have biological children. The narrative unfolds as Raaga re-enters their lives, complicating matters further. The story explores how the trio navigates emotional complexity, evolving relationships, and personal sacrifices.

Overview

Telusu Kada is a contemporary Telugu romantic drama directed by debutant Neeraja Kona and produced by People Media Factory. With a central cast of Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Raashii Khanna, and Srinidhi Shetty, the film revolves around modern-day relationship dynamics, emotional vulnerability, and redefining love and family. The film is visually rich, with solid music by Thaman, and anchored by genuine performances. Though it may not appeal to everyone due to its urbane tone and niche conflict, it does have several impactful moments that will resonate with a more open-minded audience, particularly the urban youth.

Performances

  • Siddhu Jonnalagadda as Varun impresses with his matured performance and conscious effort to break free from his ‘Tillu’ persona.
  • Raashii Khanna as Anjali delivers one of her better performances with strong emotional chemistry with Siddhu.
  • Srinidhi Shetty as Raaga shines, especially in the flashback portions with Siddhu.
  • Harsha Chemudu brings in humour as Varun’s best friend.
  • Annapoornamma, Rohini, and Sanjay Swaroop have brief roles but contribute meaningfully, with Annapoornamma delivering a touching moment in the climax.

Music

Thaman’s two songs are already chartbusters and are well-picturized on screen. However, his background score occasionally goes overboard with heroic elevation in a romantic drama context.

Cinematography

V. S. Gnana Shekar’s visuals, especially during flashback scenes and song montages, are beautiful. The vineyard sequences stand out.

Editing

Naveen Nooli’s editing is decent but could’ve trimmed repetitive sequences. The pacing dips at times due to redundant slow-motion shots.

Production Values

People Media Factory supported the debut director with quality resources, and it reflects in the production values throughout the film.

Positives

  • Two chart-topping songs
  • Relatable dialogues for modern audiences
  • Four to five emotionally well-executed sequences
  • Strong performances by lead cast
  • Fresh, relevant conflict

Negatives

  • Overboard dialogues in some scenes
  • Limited appeal due to urbane themes
  • Repetitive screenplay
  • Hero elevation shots felt unnecessary and out of place
  • A few lowbrow attempts at humour (e.g., sperm dialogue sequence)

Analysis

Telusu Kada tackles a modern, emotionally layered story about relationships and evolving values in love and family. Neeraja Kona, in her directorial debut, chooses an honest, relatable approach that might connect strongly with urban youth. However, her overemphasis on authenticity limits the film’s broader appeal. While the emotional moments and dialogues are a strength, attempts to inject heroism through background score and slow-motion shots misfire. Still, it's a commendable debut that balances real-world complexity with a personal storytelling voice.

Bottomline: Fairly Engaging

Rating: 2.5/5
