Plot

Mayilsamy, popularly known as MS, is an innocent man from Coimbatore who wants to fall in love before getting married. His conservative family, however, pressures him to accept an arranged marriage. Frustrated by their demands, MS leaves home and travels to Chennai.

Devayani is also trying to escape a future decided by her family. Her relatives plan to marry her to a controlling man in exchange for ₹57 lakh. Refusing to surrender her freedom, she leaves home and begins searching for an independent life.

MS and Devayani meet in Chennai and gradually become friends. Their shared struggles bring them closer, but the lies they tell their families soon lead to misunderstandings and comic chaos. The central question is whether their relationship can survive the complications they have created.

Overview

Hi is a simple romantic comedy built around love, family expectations and personal choice. Director Vishnu Edavan keeps the narrative light and introduces several quirky supporting characters to create a lively family entertainer.

Performances

Kavin is convincing as MS and uses his expressions and comic timing effectively. His easy-going personality makes the character likeable even when MS makes questionable decisions.

Director Vishnu Edavan handles the romantic portions with restraint, but the screenplay becomes crowded after several family characters enter the narrative. Some emotional ideas needed stronger development and a more satisfying conclusion.

Music

Jen Martin’s music supports the film’s cheerful and romantic atmosphere. The Rasagulla song is catchy, while the melodic background score adds warmth to the relationship between MS and Devayani.
