The United States Embassy in Romania has announced an important procedural change for all nonimmigrant visa applicants. Effective April 7, all applicants must present a printed copy of their DS-160 confirmation page with a barcode to confirm that the same DS-160 form was used to schedule their visa appointment.
Before attending their visa interview, applicants must ensure that the barcode number on the DS-160 form exactly matches the one used to book their appointment on USTravelDocs.com. If there is a mismatch—either due to an incomplete or incorrect DS-160 form—the applicant will not be allowed to proceed with the interview and must reschedule the appointment with the correct DS-160 number.
The DS-160, also known as the Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, is a standard requirement for most temporary U.S. visa categories. This includes B-1/B-2 visitor visas, K fiancé visas, F-1 student visas, and work visas such as H-1B, O-1, and others.
While there is no fee to submit the DS-160 form itself, applicants must still pay the nonimmigrant visa processing fee, which is $185 for most visa types that do not require a petition.
This update reinforces the importance of accurately completing the DS-160 form and ensuring all submitted data aligns with the scheduled appointment to avoid delays or denial of service.
