In a bold and fiery statement from Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy sent shockwaves through the political landscape by issuing a direct warning to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Participating in a protest organized by the Congress party demanding the implementation of 42% OBC reservation, Reddy’s sharp words reflected the rising tensions between the ruling NDA government and the opposition.
Reddy criticized the central government for what he called “political maneuvering” on critical social justice issues like the OBC reservation and caste census. He asserted that the Congress-led Telangana state has already taken proactive steps toward social equity, unlike the Modi-led NDA government at the center. He urged immediate nationwide implementation of the OBC reservation and a comprehensive caste-based census. According to Reddy, these steps are necessary for equitable distribution of resources and opportunities in the country.
Reddy didn’t mince words as he declared that if Prime Minister Modi fails to accommodate the demands, then he will ensure that the BJP flag is brought down from the Red Fort. He went a step further to say he will work towards seeing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister of India. “If Modi doesn’t act now, I will bring down his regime and ensure Rahul Gandhi leads the nation,” he thundered before the crowd.
The Telangana CM’s remarks, especially his vow to bring down the BJP’s presence from iconic symbols like the Red Fort, have intensified the ongoing political debate over reservation policies. With the upcoming general elections inching closer, Revanth Reddy’s strong stand is being seen as Congress’s renewed push for social justice and electoral relevance. His aggressive tone may well serve as a signal of the party’s national ambitions and its intent to challenge BJP’s stronghold at the center.
