Culver’s opens new restaurant in northeast Columbus after months of delays

Culver’s has officially opened a new restaurant in northeast Columbus, marking the latest expansion of the fast-casual chain in central Ohio after several delays pushed back its original launch timeline. The restaurant began welcoming customers on December 8 at 6000 Old Hamilton Road, located within the Hamilton Quarter shopping center near the Gahanna and New Albany communities.

The opening follows months of anticipation after the company initially targeted an October debut. While the reasons for the postponed timeline were not detailed, the restaurant’s launch represents a significant addition to the growing retail and dining landscape in the northeastern corridor of Columbus, an area that has seen steady commercial development in recent years.

The new Culver’s location is operated by Meyer Foods Management, an Indiana-based, family-owned franchise management company. According to company information, Meyer Foods Management oversees more than 30 Culver’s restaurants across Indiana, Ohio, and Georgia. The Columbus-area opening further strengthens the company’s footprint in Ohio, where the brand continues to pursue strategic growth opportunities.

With the debut of the Old Hamilton Road restaurant, Culver’s now operates five locations in central Ohio. Existing restaurants are located in Marysville, Reynoldsburg, Powell, and the Hilliard Green neighborhood of Columbus. Statewide, the chain’s presence has grown to approximately 30 locations, reflecting continued demand for the brand across Ohio’s urban and suburban markets.

Plans for further expansion are already underway. A spokesperson for Meyer Foods Management confirmed that a new Culver’s location has been proposed for north Columbus near Worthington, with construction potentially beginning in late 2026 if plans move forward as expected. In addition, a separate franchisee, Jake Haman, is preparing to open a Culver’s restaurant in Canal Winchester. An opening date for that location has not yet been announced.

Culver’s is best known for its signature ButterBurger, which features seared beef patties served on lightly buttered buns. The menu also includes a broad range of fast-casual offerings such as chicken tenders, chicken and cod sandwiches, jumbo shrimp, corn dogs, veggie burgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, salads, and soups. Popular side items include French fries, onion rings, and the chain’s well-known cheese curds.

Another hallmark of the brand is its frozen custard, which is available in scoops or blended desserts. Customers can customize their custard with a variety of toppings, including cookie dough, strawberries, and hot fudge, making it a key draw for families and dessert enthusiasts.

Founded in Sauk City, Wisconsin, in 1984, Culver’s has grown into a national brand with more than 1,000 locations across 26 states. The majority of its restaurants are franchise-operated, allowing the company to expand while maintaining localized ownership and management.

The new northeast Columbus Culver’s operates Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with extended hours on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. As the brand continues to expand across central Ohio, the Hamilton Quarter location adds another dining option for residents and visitors in one of the region’s fastest-growing areas.
