From Janitor to CEO: Sharran Srivatsaa Credits Tony Robbins Tapes

Sharran Srivatsaa’s janitor-to-CEO story highlights how he used free Tony Robbins audio tapes to improve his communication while working nights in the United States.

The Indian entrepreneur, now described as the U.S.-based CEO of Acquisition, said criticism of his accent became an early obstacle as he tried to build a career.

Sharran Srivatsaa’s Janitor-to-CEO Journey

Srivatsaa shared the account in a post on X after entrepreneur and author Alex Hormozi and motivational speaker Tony Robbins discussed his experience. He wrote that he arrived in the United States with what he called a “thick Indian accent” and was warned that he could struggle to find work unless he changed the way he spoke.

At the time, Srivatsaa said he was working as a janitor, facing financial pressure and unable to afford a public-speaking coach.

Tony Robbins Tapes Became a Learning Tool

Srivatsaa said he borrowed Tony Robbins audio tapes from a public library and listened to them while mopping floors at night. He used the recordings to work on his speech, confidence and communication skills.

“I’m the Indian guy Alex Hormozi and Tony Robbins are talking about,” he wrote.

Srivatsaa said the experience strengthened his belief that a difficult starting point does not have to determine a person’s career. He wrote that he could have accepted the warnings he received and remained a janitor, but instead continued developing his skills.

“Your starting point is not your story, it’s just the first chapter of it,” he wrote.

Why the Immigrant Career Story Resonates

Srivatsaa’s account reflects the challenges some immigrants face while adapting to the U.S. workplace, including pressure related to speech and communication. It also illustrates how free public resources and sustained self-improvement can support career growth when professional coaching is out of reach.

His story does not present a universal formula for success, but it offers a clear example of persistence, resourcefulness and skill-building during a difficult period.
