Mumbai Indians Climb to 3rd in IPL 2025, Rohit and Suryakumar Shine in 4th Straight Win

The Mumbai Indians have officially found their rhythm in the IPL 2025 season, notching their fourth consecutive win with a commanding performance over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Chasing a modest target of 144, MI wrapped up the game with seven wickets in hand, thanks to solid performances from seasoned stars Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. Skipper Hardik Pandya's squad has now climbed to third place on the points table, an impressive turnaround following a lackluster start to their campaign. The five-time champions have once again demonstrated why they are known for their ability to bounce back under pressure.

Former India spinner Piyush Chawla, speaking on JioHotstar, lavished praise on MI’s complete team effort. "They are on a roll at the moment. All the wins they’ve had recently have been convincing. The bowlers are doing their job, and the top-order batters are finishing games. The middle order hasn’t even been tested yet, which is a great sign," he remarked. Rohit Sharma, who had faced criticism earlier in the tournament for not being in form, silenced his doubters with a composed 70-run innings, leading the chase with maturity. Chawla highlighted Rohit's resurgence, stating, “Earlier, there were concerns about Rohit not scoring runs, but in the last two games, he has stepped up.”

In-form Suryakumar Yadav, India’s T20I captain, added the finishing touches with a classy unbeaten 40 off 29 balls, laced with five fours and two sixes. His knock showed flashes of vintage SKY, something that excited fans and experts alike. “We all know what Suryakumar Yadav is capable of when he gets going. Today, he showed that again. He came in with a plan, got set, and then started playing those signature sweeps and inside-out shots. It was vintage SKY,” Chawla said.

Hardik Pandya, leading from the front both as captain and all-rounder, continues to draw attention with his dual impact on the game. Chawla added, “Hardik is in great form with both bat and ball. That gives him immense confidence and it's clearly visible in the way he is leading this side.” Mumbai Indians have now emerged as serious contenders for the playoffs, putting behind early-season concerns and reminding fans why they are one of the most successful franchises in IPL history.

  • Mumbai Indians will next face Lucknow Super Giants at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

  • Sunrisers Hyderabad, looking to bounce back, will take on Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.

With momentum on their side and key players firing, MI’s resurgence promises more thrilling cricket ahead in the 2025 IPL season.
