As part of the grand opening, organizers have arranged a “human book chain,” inviting community members to line North High Street beginning at 5:00 PM to pass books hand-to-hand from the bookstore’s previous location at 841 N. High St. to its new space. The coordinated effort represents the final stage of the store’s move and emphasizes community participation in the transition. Participants were asked to RSVP in advance to help organizers manage the flow of volunteers and ensure a smooth transfer process.
Following the book transfer, a public reception will take place from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the new location. The event will include refreshments and an opportunity for visitors to explore the expanded bookstore layout. The relocation, first announced in January, shifts the business approximately one block south within the Short North district, a well-known cultural and retail area in Columbus.
The new storefront offers roughly double the space of the previous location, allowing the bookstore to broaden its offerings and host more events. Store officials have indicated that the expanded footprint will support growth across several categories, including poetry, essays, genre fiction, Spanish-language titles, and art and design books. Additionally, the larger venue is expected to accommodate in-store programming without interrupting daily operations.
The building at 787 N. High St. was previously occupied by Happy Go Lucky, a locally owned boutique that closed in October after operating for more than a decade. Regular business hours at the new Prologue Bookshop location are set to begin on Friday following the grand opening event.
