Kolkata, June 24, 2026: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra has stirred fresh political discussions in West Bengal after publicly recalling the support she received from Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari during the early stages of her political journey. Her remarks come at a crucial time when the TMC is facing internal challenges, defections, and a growing leadership crisis.
Mahua Moitra described her relationship with Suvendu Adhikari as one built on personal respect and emotional connection despite their current political differences. The comments have drawn attention because Moitra has long been considered one of Mamata Banerjee’s most loyal and outspoken supporters.
Recalling a difficult moment from 2014, Moitra revealed that she was deeply disappointed after not receiving a Lok Sabha ticket from the party. The Krishnanagar MP also reflected on her first major electoral campaign in Karimpur during the 2016 West Bengal Assembly elections. Although Adhikari left the Trinamool Congress in 2020 and later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Moitra said personal relationships should not be forgotten because of political divisions. She acknowledged that they no longer communicate regularly but emphasized that she remains grateful for the support he extended during critical moments in her career.
