Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has said that the rejuvenation of the Musi river is his life goal, making a strong pitch for the cleanup and restoration project during a public meeting in Nalgonda district on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
Speaking at the meeting, Revanth Reddy said he is determined to clean the Musi river at any cost. He said the river’s pollution has caused serious problems for people in parts of Telangana, especially in Nalgonda district, where residents have been dealing with the impact of contaminated water for several years.
Revanth Reddy Says Musi Revival Is A Priority
Revanth Reddy said the Musi rejuvenation project is not just an infrastructure plan but an essential public welfare initiative. He said the government wants to provide long-term relief to people affected by river pollution and improve the overall condition of areas connected to the Musi.
The Chief Minister said the project will be taken up with seriousness and completed despite political criticism, administrative challenges or lack of support from opponents. He made it clear that his government will not step back from the plan.
Musi Project Compared With Major River Cleanups
During his speech, Revanth Reddy referred to other major river cleaning and development projects in India, including the Sabarmati in Gujarat, the Yamuna in Delhi and the Ganga in Uttar Pradesh. He said the Musi river rejuvenation will also be developed on a large scale and should become a model project for the country.
He said the aim is to transform the Musi into a landmark development that people from across India can see in the future. According to him, the project should become a showcase for Telangana and a symbol of the state government’s commitment to urban development and environmental protection.
Warning To Those Opposing The Project
Revanth Reddy also made strong remarks against those trying to obstruct the project. He said no opposition or challenge would stop the government from moving ahead with the Musi rejuvenation plan.
The Chief Minister said the government is ready to face obstacles and complete the work with determination. His remarks come at a time when the Musi project has become a major political and environmental issue in Telangana, with the government presenting it as a long-term solution to pollution and public health concerns.
