Two people were killed and three Minneapolis police officers were injured after a shooting inside a downtown apartment building on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The suspected gunman was also found dead as authorities began investigating the circumstances surrounding the deadly incident.

The shooting took place at an apartment building at 15 E. Grant St., close to the Minneapolis Convention Center and Loring Park. Police received the first 911 report at approximately 4:36 PM local time, prompting a large response from officers, emergency medical crews and other first responders.

Two People Killed in Downtown Apartment Shooting

Officers arriving at the apartment building found multiple victims. Authorities said one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center and later died from injuries.

Police also confirmed that the suspected shooter was found dead. The circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death were not immediately detailed, and investigators had not initially released the identities of those killed.

Seven patients were reportedly taken to a nearby hospital following the incident, although complete information about the conditions of all those injured was not immediately available.
