Mahabubnagar Woman Killed in Land Dispute, Four In-Laws Named

Police in Telangana’s Mahabubnagar district are investigating the alleged murder of 26-year-old Katrawath Sunitha following a dispute over 1.5 acres of agricultural land. Four of her in-laws have been named in a case filed after a complaint by her father.

Land Settlement Allegedly Led to Family Tensions: Sunitha had been married to Katrawath Balaram for around 10 to 12 years, and they have two daughters. According to the report, Balaram was experiencing mental health issues, and village elders helped arrange a settlement to secure Sunitha and her children’s future. Under the agreement, 1.5 acres of agricultural land was transferred to Sunitha’s name rather than her husband’s. Police suspect the ownership arrangement may have contributed to tensions within the family.

Attack Reported After Sunitha Visited the Land: Police said Sunitha had recently returned to the village and was visiting the disputed agricultural plot when her in-laws allegedly intercepted her. They reportedly took her to their house, where she was attacked with sharp-edged weapons and killed. Police said she was beheaded and that the attackers fled after the incident. Investigators are working to establish the sequence of events and what happened between her visit to the land and the attack.

Four Relatives Named in Murder Case: Sunitha’s father, Valya Naik, lodged a complaint with the police. A murder case was registered against four people: Manya Naik, Pandu Naik, Parvathi and Manikya Naik. Police have launched a search operation to trace them. Sunitha’s body was moved for a postmortem examination as part of the investigation.

Police Continue Investigation: Circle Inspector Gandhi Naik and Sub-Inspector Nagaraju are supervising the case. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the land dispute and the alleged killing, while working to determine the role of each person named in the complaint. The four accused had reportedly fled after the incident; police were searching for them as the investigation continued.
