The R Madhavan Titan watch worn during his Padma Shri ceremony was more than an expensive accessory. Priced at ₹40.5 lakh, or 4.05 million rupees, the rare timepiece brought Indian miniature art, Jaipur’s architectural heritage and advanced mechanical watchmaking together on one dial.
President Droupadi Murmu presented Madhavan with the Padma Shri at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. The Padma Shri is one of India’s highest civilian honors.

R Madhavan Titan Watch Features Hand-Painted Hawa Mahal Art
Madhavan wore the Titan Nebula Jalsa Flying Tourbillon, a limited-edition watch created to honor 225 years of Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal.
Its marble dial features a royal procession before the historic palace. Padma Shri-winning miniature artist S. Shakir Ali created the artwork using natural gemstone pigments and traditional painting techniques, according to Titan.
The scene reflects the meaning of “jalsa,” or celebration, while representing achievement, dignity and grandeur. This created a fitting connection at the ceremony: one Padma Shri recipient wore artwork created by another.
What Makes the Titan Nebula Jalsa Special?
The Jalsa is housed in an 18-karat rose-gold case and features red-agate detailing inspired by Jaipur’s sandstone architecture.
Inside the watch is Titan’s in-house flying tourbillon movement, assembled from 144 precision components and 14 jewels. A tourbillon is a complex rotating mechanism developed to help counter the effect of gravity on a mechanical watch’s timekeeping components.
Only 10 Jalsa watches were produced, making it one of Titan’s rarest luxury timepieces. Titan also selected the model as its official entry for the 2025 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, a prominent international watchmaking competition.
More Than a ₹40.5 Lakh Luxury Watch
Luxury watches are often judged through price, precious materials and rarity. Madhavan’s watch stood out because its greater story was rooted in craftsmanship.
As the actor received a national civilian honor, the watch on his wrist quietly celebrated another Padma Shri recipient, Jaipur’s artistic legacy and India’s growing expertise in high-end mechanical watchmaking.
Its value, therefore, was not limited to ₹40.5 lakh. It came from the Indian art, patience and engineering carried within its dial.
