Columbus zoo bus returns with summer service and discount admissions
A seasonal bus service connecting downtown Columbus to the city's major wildlife and water park attractions will resume just in time for summer. Starting Memorial Day weekend, the public can once again board the dedicated zoo bus to visit the popular zoo and adjoining water park with convenience and affordability.

The service, which officially begins May 24, will operate every day through Labor Day, offering a straightforward option for those looking to enjoy one of the region’s top summer destinations. The bus will make five trips daily, beginning with an 8 a.m. departure from downtown and concluding with the final return trip from the zoo at 7 p.m.

Travelers can board from three designated locations: near the Statehouse in the city center, a park-and-ride lot near a west-side dam area, and another park-and-ride facility in the Dublin area. These stops are strategically located to accommodate riders from both downtown and suburban neighborhoods.

Fares are kept low to encourage ridership—adults pay just $2 for a one-way ticket, while children under 12 ride for $1. Kids under 5 years old travel free. In addition to the affordable fare, passengers receive access to a special incentive: a coupon that provides reduced admission to the zoo or water park. Riders can ask the driver for this coupon upon boarding. It offers either a $5 entry to the zoo or a $10 discount on water park admission. The coupon must be redeemed at the attraction’s ticket window and is limited to one per passenger.

The bus program supports family-friendly travel by removing the need to navigate traffic or hunt for parking during peak summer days. It also contributes to sustainability efforts by encouraging group travel, reducing emissions and congestion near the entrance to the attractions.

As in previous years, the zoo bus is expected to draw significant usage, particularly during weekends and holidays. For many families, the service is an annual tradition that combines ease, economy, and entertainment in one smooth ride. Children enjoy the anticipation of the trip, and parents appreciate the simplicity of a direct route without the headache of parking logistics.

While the service is mostly geared toward local residents, it also benefits visitors who may be staying downtown or in nearby areas without personal vehicles. The bus offers them a reliable, scenic journey to one of the most beloved destinations in the state.

Those interested in learning more about the bus route, updated departure times, or additional travel planning tips can find information through official city transport sources or by calling the local transit customer support line.

As summer kicks off, the return of the zoo bus signals the reopening of full seasonal activity in the region. With daily service, low prices, and valuable admission discounts, it’s a smart and enjoyable option for anyone planning a day filled with wildlife, water fun, and warm weather memories.
